We make your GSE fleet sustainable!

Sustainability.

Circularity.

Change the power!

The world is engaged in an energy transition, which is necessary and pervasive in the relentless search for clean forms of energy generation and use. All developments show that we are actually in a transition where XYZ Dynamics support your business to change.

Ground Support Equipment (GSE) often lags in this development, while these diesel-powered vehicles are old and worn out, in addition to not even driving around with the correct tier standards. XYZ Dynamics’ mission is to make this energy transition happen quickly and smoothly.

We do this by converting equipment, rather than renew the existing GSE fleet, because we believe in the power of conversion! And there are demonstrable and identifiable reasons that it is good for the environment, cost and speed of transition

Zero emission

Benefits of conversion!

More sustainable, environmentally conscious and adapted to new laws and regulations

More cost-effective by converting existing GSE

The transition can be initiated immediately

Based in Brainport Eindhoven (Europe’s smartest region), XYZ Dynamics’ expertise is the development of its own high-end electric powertrain that serves as a so-called retrofit package: converting existing GSE, increasing ease of use and performance without having to retrain the end user.

Why should I become more sustainable?

Corporate social responsibility includes an open mind and a certain awareness awareness of the environment. Whereas for many years it was a mandatory issue or a showcase for the “sincerity of the company”, sustainability has now become a must. In addition to environmental responsibility, there are often government regulations and laws that require companies to become more sustainable.

XYZ  is highly motivated to smoothen the energy transition.. With our solutions, we ensure that this different way of working and thinking is properly integrated into your business(es).

Emission-free (nitrogen/ CO2) GSE fleet and other support vehicles

Extended life of GSE fleet and other support vehicles

Lower maintenance costs

Contribution to the company's sustainability goals

MAA Performance Electric pushback

Airports are increasingly under a magnifying glass: stricter environmental requirements, focus on noise pollution, high workload of ground operators and other issues are becoming more and more important. MMA (Maastricht Aachen Airport), located in the southern Dutch Euregion between Belgium and Germany, received the good news in 2022 that they may remain operational. A condition, however, was that they must make their GSE sustainable.

The decision was made in June 2022. XYZ Dynamics, along with Aviaco, had been engaged before June 2022 to investigate the feasibility of the “transition to electric GSE” case study. Some areas of concern emerged, including the quality of an electric pushback. A successful demonstration of an electric pushback from XYZ Dynamics was given at MAA, after which it was decided to make flight handling fully electric!

The experiences and reactions of the operators were very positive: according to them, the quality of an electric pushback is higher than a diesel variant, there is better responsiveness in use, and the pushback is more reliable because it requires less maintenance. All in all, higher performance!

Seville Airport Extreme weather conditions

2023 is a crucial year for Spanish airports: there is a new tender this year for handlers for the next 7 years. A number of specific requirements were attached to this tender. One focus is the mandatory deployment of electric GSE by handlers. For example, pushbacks under 25 tons should become all-electric.

Our converted electric TMX 150 was therefore the ideal demo for handler WFS to find out if they could include this product in their tender. For XYZ Dynamics, it provided an opportunity to test the product in very hot conditions.

WFS opted for XYZ Dynamics’ electric pushback transition because of the high cost of completely new equipment. This also enables WFS to offer their services more competitively in the marketplace while still meeting sustainability requirements.

The pushback from XYZ Dynamics ran a demo in Spain with lead-acid and with lithium batteries, showing that lead-acid batteries reached their limit faster. The lithium batteries were able to deliver the same power in current under the very hot ambient temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius.

Schiphol Airport Electrification Stairs

Schiphol’s vision is to deploy all of its equipment emission-free by 2030. The fleet of support services like the fire department and snowplow, in particular, has a stiff challenge with this. However, Schiphol argues that every effort should be made to meet the targets without making concessions on reliability and safety.

One of the challenges in that area are the emergency stairs: these are used to get passengers out of the plane as quickly as possible in the event of an emergency. Since being quickly on the scene is a must, these stairs had to be able to be deployed at the same top speed that the existing (diesel-powered) vehicle had. The manufacturer could not both a solution, but XYZ Dynamics could: our engineers knew how to convert and adapt the drive of the emergency stairs in such a way that they meet all safety and speed requirements!

In 2023, the electric stairs used by the fire department will be delivered to Schiphol. The stage needs a high top speed, so the power of a lead-acid battery is not sufficient. The lithium battery pack (which is also in the pushbacks) can achieve this performance AND lithium packs are fundamentally more reliable than lead-acid batteries. So with our new powertrain, we are guaranteed to meet the three most important requirements: fast, safe and reliable!
